Obama and His Legacy

With all the hubbub of his first 100 days, is Obama all what he is portended to be? Some hail the Chicago Magician as the best president we have ever had. Such talk ignores reality and more importantly the ability to judge history correctly. It is very difficult to judge history while in the midst of it. Lincoln is considered one of our best presidents, yet in his day, he was not as well liked as he is now. In fact, he may share more with W than some are willing to admit, but I am digressing here.

What we are hearing now is pure spin from the magic show and the truth is, even though he has relatively high approval ratings, people don't believe what he is doing will work. The disconnect is caused by the honeymoon period that is being accorded to him.

This is nothing new, and under the right circumstances, it can be promulgated well into the future. Another political magician, FDR, was able to do that. By keeping a balance of despair and hope, he was able to manipulate the populace to keep him in power. Things were always bad enough that we had to keep him in the game, but he was always doing a good enough job that we had to reward him. The truth is, things really did not improve under FDR. In 1938, unemployment was still over 20% and the stock market was as low as ever. All his micromanagement did was create a larger more socialist government that restricted people's rights and created bureaucracies that will eventually bankrupt the country. All for the purpose of maintaining him in power.

Obama is no different, and in fact wants to take us one or two steps beyond anything FDR could imagine. In fact he says he wants to "remake america". The difference will be that this pied piper may be judged differently than his acolytes believe. The people of this country still favor a more libertarian approach, and any approbation he receives now may be short lived. The problem though is that when he is done "remaking america", it may be too much and/or too late to reverse. Look at social security and medicare. It just gets worse. Socialism coopts people by persuading them that they are getting something for free, but when in fact, the people are enlisting themselves willingly into indentured servitude. Like the frog in the warm bath, it will be too late at some point.

What can we do? Stay true to principles, vote, get active in politics and support candidates that espouse libertarian and classical liberal philosophies. Obama will undo himself with his crusader mentality in regards to his socialist agenda. He can't help himself. May be we can send this Magician back to Chicago in 3 and a half years.

Obama Would Never Watch This

I don't drink Budweiser (Sam Adams), but then again neither does BHO (he strikes as a Chardonnay drinker), but this is one commercial that either you get or you don't get. He wouldn't get it. I do, do you? Cool commercial.

Global Warming: I did it, I admit it

Well, I guess I did it. according to some Bozos in Britain, overweight people add more to global warming...Never mind the fact it's rubbish. I do however admit that I am more than 20 stone, although I am 6'5. I guess these guys don't believe in free will and capitalism... Obviously not. This struggle has been going on for centuries. Free will and responsibility vs. Original sin and guilt. Religions do not work well without guilt. Just ask Pelagius and Augustine. Or Al Gore and me. Unfortunately, while Pelagius was right, he lost the argument, which put us in nearly 2000 years of guilt remorseless control. How will this religious struggle end? I hope better than that one.

Guess Who is the Totalitarian Socialist?

Jackie Chan, action star and multi-millionaire (Whose bulk of money comes from capitalism) thinks that people need to be controlled. He questioned the need for freedom, which defacto praised China's totalitarian regime. This isn't the first time he tried to warm up to the commies: In 2004 he questioned the results of the presidential elections in Taiwan, drawing praise from China and Ire from Taiwan. Of course this is from a man who can't keep it in his pants, and even has been accused of fathering children out of wedlock (and all but outrightly admits it). If you cannot trust someone in small matters, how can you trust them with large ones? May be Jackie should go back to China and become a compulsory organ donor. Anyone that makes excuses for countries such as China is an asshole in my book. Lick the boot Mr. Chan, lick the boot.

The Hells Angels Open Chapter In Pakistan

Sonny Barger must be proud. The Hells Angels have opened a chapter in Pakistan. They plan to move in on the Taliban opium producers to take over their production and distribution. They also plan on starting a prostitution ring they will run in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. When asked how one will be able to distinguish a prostitute from an average woman there, there leader, Abu "Wide Glide" Abdullah said that "the burkas will be 1" shorter and the hood will have a mouth flap".

The Outlaws and Pagans were asked if they have plans to recruit in Pakistan or Afghanistan. They declined comment. The El Forasteros said they were looking into it.

Texas and Perry Do It Again

Texas Governor Rick Perry turned it up a notch. All I have to say is God bless Texas and Perry. Listen here. I wonder if Janet Napolitano will pay him a visit? At this point I doubt it. She's already pissed off a lot of people.

IotW

The Idiot of the Week Award goes out to Bernard Hogan-Howe (not satified with one boring name, he has to have two) who as the Police Chief for Merceyside in the UK had a poor chap arrested for the crime for Theft By Finding. If you can believe it, Paul Leicester, 18, an A-level college student, found a cell phone and turned it over to the Merseyside Police in Southport, UK. Talk about no good deed goes unpunished. Well Mr double name, or should we call you Col. William Tavington (the resemblance is stunning), I should think you qualify as asshole of the year as well. To add insult to injury, they even took a DNA sample. WTF? I wonder if you treat muslims this way? We'll have to defer to Pat Condell for that answer.

There are the courts, and then there is the law

I have been avoiding this issue on purpose. On one side, we have the religious zealots wanting to go back 2000 years, and on the other side we have gay rights zealots that want to circumvent the process and use an oligarchy to make law. What everyone seems to be ignoring in this struggle for cultural supremacy is that courts aren't supposed to make law. The Iowa Supreme court was in its right to declare an existing law unconstitutional that would define a marriage as between a man and a woman, but making that law unconstitutional does not create a new law that says gay marriage is constitutional. The legislature creates laws. That's where this argument should have gone back to. Instead, we have 7 people making law, 7 unelected people. This is a dangerous precedent that will effect everyone negatively eventually.

What should have happened was that while the law was overturned, the people should ask the legislature to pass a new law either banning gay marriage or affirming it. That way the people have recourse if an elected politician does something that his or her constituency does not agree with. To add insult to injury, the state attorney general ordered county clerks to obey the ruling. The AG does not have the authority to do that, it is the authority of the county attorneys, and honestly, the court can't make law for anyone to follow.

I am purposely not taking sides here. I believe that making law is a political process that should be left to elected officials where the people as a whole have a greater voice. It would be no different than if the governor enacted law based on executive order. On one hand he is elected, but on the other, the legislature is supposed to make law, and do you want your rights riding on the conscience of one person? We did away with that 233 years ago. The power should come from the people, not one elected person or seven appointed people.

Hooray For Texas:Finally a state and governor with balls

Texas Governor Rick Perry seems to stand alone in the states rights fight against a growing socialist government. It's about time someone stood up and got some skin in the game and drew the line in the sand. Texas is the first, but I bet it won't be the last. With legitimate politicians getting in the fray, it will become more difficult for Obama & co to demonize those that oppose him, even if they continue to watch us.

Bow Out

A lot has been made out of Obama's obeisance and obsequiousness to the Saudi King. In our history, the presents that have presided in the beginning of the centuries have helped define America's role in the world. Thomas Jefferson replaced the bow with the handshake and Theodore Roosevelt saw himself as at least a first among equals if not a superior. In our century we have a president that bows before rulers of kingdoms that we have little or no respect for except their ability to pump oil out of the ground, and it's a skill they learned from us. Either Obama has no respect of the office of president, or he is such a person that will do anything to placate friends and enemies. Obama has more in common with that sherry and cheddar surrender monkey Neville Chamberlain every day. If you disagree and think the latest pirate escapade and SEAL rescue proves me wrong, think again. Go Navy.

Obama's bow may be a harbinger of things to come. May be this signals the US bowing out as a world superpower. Time will tell. Obama is not a deliberate man and he telegraphs his intentions. This makes him an easy mark for the likes of China, Russia, Iran etc. Whatever the case, Obama's administration will mark the direction this country takes in this century, and it is not a good one.

The Audacity Of Foolishness

Obama has fooled may people into thinking he is the ruler of the free world, and now he promises the Czechs that we will have a nuclear free world. It really is a nice sentiment and I wouldn't mind it, but in a practical sense, it won't happen. For starters, the cat's out of the bag, and you can't put it back in. Even if everyone dismantled every nuclear bomb that exists, the knowledge of how to create does. Someone, somewhere will have one again, and no one else will. Secondly, if you think China and Russia will just give it up, I think you have to re-examine things. They both are on the UN security council and both would veto any UN non-sense to this effect. Neither would agree now or in the future to disarmament. They are not our friends, and never will be, no matter how much Barry tries to be Neville Chamberlain.

So what's it all about, Alfie? Obama probably has messianic visions of what he'd like to do, but as a Chicago politician, he'd rather get by on perception than reality, as reality requires too much work and is impractical. What is reality anyway? According to Paul Shanklin, Obama is a magician. Now we wait for his next trick.

Insanity By Any Other Name

I have to say something at this point, I really do. We had the shootings up in Binghamton NY, with 13 innocent people killed and now the nut in Pittsburgh who killed three police officers. I just read that he used to have an internet TV show, which failed and he thought Obama will ban guns. First off Richard Poplawski, (or should I call you Dick?), why the heck would you think shooting 3 cops and killing them would somehow deter Obama from banning guns? Thanks for the promo you fucking loser. All the law abiding gun owners are now saying a collective WTF?

Let's move on to Jiverly Wong. Jiverly, pissed off with losing his job at IBM and having delved into drugs, decided to go to the American Civic Center, where he had been taking english lessons, and kill 13 people and then himself. Obviously he got the order wrong, as he should have started with himself. While I can understand his troubles, the guy crossed a line in a way that could be described as way over the top, wouldn't you say?

Bad economic times seem to bring out the best and worst in people, and it also brings out the crazies as well. When is crazy just crazy? The sad thing is that one, a lot of innocent people had to die that didn't have anything to do with these people's problems (and in fact I bet tried to help), IE they were innocent. The other sad thing is that now, you probably will see a crackdown on law abiding citizens rights to keep and bear arms. Both these losers were nuts, and I bet broke some laws along the way before they committed their crimes. All I ask is don't punish the rest of us for the acts of a few crazy people.

Lastly, my condolences and prayers go out to the innocent people killed, their families and friends. May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Or someplace better than where you are now.

Messiah Motors

GM filing bankruptcy and having Obama run it might not be the worst thing in the world. Think of it like this: it will be a test of socialism in this country. Imagine if you will, that your car needs a warranty repair. Normally, you would bring the car to the dealer, and they would fix it. They might try to weasel some other things that you do not need in order to make a few extra bucks, like telling you that your car needs a power steering system flush when you are getting the power steering pump replaced under warranty. With government managed car care, they would tell you that the normal wait for such a repair is 6 weeks, and based on your cars age and mileage, it may not be for 3 months, which of course is after the warranty expires. Of course when you do get the repair done, if you can wait that long, it will be done by kids from the local Junior High (as part of the Obama Youth Program) or homeless people from local shelters, as all the mechanics at MM dealerships went to work for Honda, Toyota, Ford or some other non-american car dealer that pays better as MM dealerships now limit mechanics to $10/hr, regardless of experience or expertise. If they screw up your car when they work on it, too bad for you. You'll have to wait another 3 months for them to get to you again. Of course your warranty will only be in force if you use MM oil and filters and other parts in routine maintenance. Failure to do so will void your warranty and in addition you will have to pay a fine and you will also be fined if you do the work yourself. If you take your car to an independent shop or non MM dealer for work, they will be fined as well, even if they use MM parts.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how this test into socialism goes. Will you buy your next car from Messiah Motors?
