AG: Court Challenge Possible On Immigration Law

Attorney General Eric Holder says the federal government may challenge Arizona's new law on immigration.

The attorney general told reporters Tuesday that he fears Arizona's new law is subject to abuse.

At a news conference, Holder said that the Justice Department and the Homeland Security Department are in the midst of conducting a review of the state law.

The Arizona law requires state law enforcement officials to ask people for documentation if they are suspected to be in the country illegally.

The attorney general says a number of options are under consideration including the possibility of a court challenge.

Sen. John McCain says Arizona had to pass a tough immigration law because the Obama administration has failed to "secure our borders."

The Arizona Republican called the situation in his state "the worst I've ever seen," saying ineffective border enforcement has resulted in drugs pouring into the southwestern United States from Mexico.

McCain told CBS's "The Early Show" that over a million pounds of marijuana were intercepted on the border at Tucson just in the last year. He said he's talked to law enforcement officials and believes the new law can be implemented "without racial profiling."

Under the law set to take effect in late July or August, it would be a crime to be in the United States illegally.

A long-awaited compromise bill to reduce U.S. emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases blamed for global warming will be unveiled by a group of senators on April 26, sources said on Thursday.
The legislative language to be sketched out in 11 days, according to government and environmental sources, is being drafted by Democratic Senator John Kerry, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and independent Senator Joseph Lieberman.


President Barack Obama has made climate change one of his top priorities and took steps recently to show Republicans he was serious, including expanding federal aid for building nuclear power facilities and allowing more domestic offshore oil drilling -- initiatives to be included in the Senate compromise.
The White House is also eager to show the rest of the world the United States is ready to take a leadership role on global warming, including to help kick-start stalled international efforts to tackle the problem.
Despite vocal climate change skeptics in the United States, leading scientific groups have been hoping the United States, the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases after China, would take action.


While Obama is compromising by moving to the center on this by okaying offshore drilling and building more nuclear reactors, in the end, there is little comprise at all. Here's why: Nuclear reactors and drilling take years to implement, and while the blanket statement offshore drilling is used, will it be in areas that will be most productive? Furthermore, there is no retrenchment or reproachment from Obama on his position, in spite of the fact at the very least there are serious doubts to the validity to the theory of global warming, if not outright admission that it is a hoax. In the end, if this bill passes, Obama gets what he wants and we get a promise yet to be fulfilled. It's total bullshit and doesn't adress the heart of the problem with is redistribution of wealth by the mechanism of a hoax perpetrated on us by people whose sole goal in the end is world-wide socialism.

No matter what gifts Grahamnesty comes forth with (or McLame for that matter), don't fall for it. This fight is as important as the one for Obamacare, and remember, we lost that one. While November is coming, it isn't here yet. So, we must either forestall this bill until the next session where it might be dead, or kill it now. Anything less is capitulation.

In the end they should be quite happy: The dust will lower temperatures and keep a lot of aircraft on the ground. Of course this also means they can't jet set in their G5s. Oh well. They are doing it again: I told you so

As most of my fellow right-libertarian-conservative bloggers have been railing against Diabolus Ex Machina (Even Chavez smells sulphur), The Grand Dragon Of Magic, Misdirection and Malefaction has been hard at work making sure that his agenda is successful. Has it been fruitful? Today we see that they passed a defense bill (and look who gets to spend it), with the capitulation of Leiberman and Nelson, now Reid has the votes for the "Healthcare" bill,  Obama sold our soul in Copenhagen (as he races home to a blizzard), because we only have 50 days to save the world, and the best that the right can do is have a readathon of the healthcare bill to slow it down. On top of this, Iran invades Iraq, while we are there mind you, and we do nothing. Talk about taking it in the back door. What side is this guy on?

In spite of what my cohorts say about "we'll have a great 2010 and 2012", I wish we would come to our senses and admit it, that we lost. We lost in 2008, and we've lost the idealogical battle on capitol hill. While we may win next year and in 2012, THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A PRECEDENT OF OVERTURNING ANY GOVERNMENT LARGESSE.

 The only way we can get beyond this is to come to our senses, admit reality, learn from it, and not repeat the same bullshit that Steele wants to perpetrate on us in the coming months. The GOP is feckless, and is rotten at the core. It's needs a heart and brain transplant. and that needs to come from the Tea Party people and 912ers. The problem is the GOP is deadly afraid of the Tea Party people. I heard Craig Robinson of the Iowa Republican on the Steve Deace Show  say the he and the Iowa GOP wish the Tea Party people would go away and that they are too ideologically diverse to be republicans. What a pompous myopic ass. He likes his seat at the table, and the power that it gives those there. Unfortunately,  nothing will change if RINOs like these keep the power they have. The status quo hasn't worked, the republicans gave the dems everything in 2006 and 2008 because of their fecklessness and I see no change if they get back in control next year. They are tax and spend moderates that want to give their special interests tax breaks and other perks. It's time for an overhaul and just as the dems are doing things that will reek havoc on their gip on power, this does not mean there is a mandate for McLame republicans to do their moderate best. If you don't believe me, look what a short time it took for the GOP to throw the socons under the bus after they got what they wanted and morover, before they were the GOP, they were the Whigs.

At this point, the best of all possibilities is that the Tea Party people take over the platform, agenda and direction of the GOP. It's needed IF the GOP wants to remain the GOP. If not, the Tea Party people will supplant and replace the GOP, just as the GOP replaced the Whigs. We will see if the GOP leadership is as intransigent as I believe it is. Of course, what is a leader without a movement. While I have my reservations about Sarah, I can see her taking the reins with this. Of course the GOP will cry to the tune of 1912 with TR and the Bull Moose Party, but my narrative says it would be 1860 with the rising GOP ex Whigs. What do you think?

McCain Campaign Was Filled with Liberals: They tried to stifle Sarah

This just in from Drudge Report. If anything illustrates, one, what a total asshole McLame is, Two, how doomed his campaign was from the beginning, and three, how liberal he must be to hire people that work for the MSM. For whatever reason, they didn't want the campaign to succeed. They just wanted a good show to put on their résumés and make sure he went nowhere. McLame is complicit though, and this is what you get when you support someone whose turn it is.

The plus side is Sarah Palin isn't going away. What these weenies didn't realize was that she would get more than the 15 minutes of fame they thought she deserved. She's getting more and I would bet this is just the beginning.

I would also posit that Mr. Potato Head Steele is more of the same. The McCain fiasco proves it, the Dede Scozzofava  deal seals it. The GOP is being led by the incompetent. What else is new?

By the third week in September, a “Free Sarah” campaign was under way and the press at large was growing increasingly critical of the McCain camp’s decision to keep me, my family and friends back home, and my governor’s staff all bottled up. Meanwhile, the question of which news outlet would land the first interview was a big deal, as it always is with a major party candidate.

From the beginning, Nicolle [Wallace] pushed for Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News. The campaign’s general strategy involved coming out with a network anchor, someone they felt had treated John well on the trail thus far. My suggestion was that we be consistent with that strategy and start talking to outlets like FOX and the Wall Street Journal. I really didn’t have a say in which press I was going to talk to, but for some reason Nicolle seemed compelled to get me on the Katie bandwagon.

“Katie really likes you,” she said to me one day. “she’s a working mom and admires you as a working mom. She has teenage daughter like you. She just relates to you,” Nicolle said. “believe me, I know her very well. I’ve worked with her.” Nicolle had left her gig at CBS just a few months earlier to hook up with the McCain campaign. I had to trust her experience, as she had dealt with national politics more than I had. But something always struck me as peculiar about the way she recalled her days in the White House, when she was speaking on behalf of President George W. Bush. She didn't have much to say that was positive about her former boss or the job in general. Whenever I wanted to give a shout-out to the White House’s homeland security efforts after 9/11, we were told we couldn’t do it. I didn’t know if that was Nicolle’s call.

Nicolle went on to explain that Katie really needed a career boost. “She just has such low self-esteem,” Nicolle said. She added that Katie was going through a tough time. “She just feels she can’t trust anybody.”

I was thinking, And this has to do with John McCain’s campaign how?

Nicolle said. “She wants you to like her.”

Hearing all that, I almost started to feel sorry for her. Katie had tried to make a bold move from lively morning gal to serious anchor, but the new assignment wasn’t going very well.

“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”

Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer. I had a friend call Bill O’Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was “ignoring” his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin’s number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters’ strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as the campaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, “No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.”

The Backstabbing Continues: Palin gets it from Steve Schmidt

Steve Schmidt and Bob Schrum throw Palin under the bus. Note to CNN, these guys are losers and sore losers at that. When was the last time Bob Schrum won anything? And Steve Schmidt? Look at how well McCain did. He's still a senator. If anything, this video shows where the dissension was in the McCain Campaign: With Steve Schmidt. I bet he was against picking Palin from the start and unconsciously and consciously sabotaged the campaign. Obviously his heart wasn't in it. All this serves as is to marginalize her before she really gets started. The Neo-Cons, and Country Clubbers on the right will be uniting with the Neo-Coms on the left to back the bus over Palin as many times as it takes to kill her political aspirations. All I can say is it is becoming neigh time for her to get on the horse and ride, or go home.

A South Carolina Republican lawmaker shouted "You lie" at President Barack Hussein Obama as he addressed Congress on Wednesday, prompting a GOP senator to call for an apology...

"You lie!" Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouted from his seat, jabbing a finger in the air.

Good for him. Unfortunately, Senator McCain called for an apology. F McCain, as he lost the election and had no shame in laying down on the job while running for president, why should he have shame for someone telling the truth? For many politicians, to be successful, they must bear false witness against their own mind. McCain is experienced in this.

Congratulate Joe Wilson on having the balls to tell the Messiah he's full of crap.

Did you vote?

I did. If it's any indication, for the relatively small town I live in, the turnout was very high. Of course I was the first in line, and I arrived 50 minutes before the polls opened. Intuition, if that is possible for me, says this is bad for McCain, but I could be wrong. My synopsis is that McCain made the mistake of being republican. If he loses, it is a refutation of Bush, and he would have been better off if the republicans didn't have a candidate and McCain ran under a different party. BTW, I voted for Palin.

Will It Be John McCain or Barack Obama? Clarity at twilights last gleaming

Whoever is elected, they will have to deal with a horrible economy and a populace that will demand results. The problem is, the populace is by and large idiotic. Let me clarify. We have a democrat majority in both houses and have since 2006. Since then the congress has a 9% approval rating. For some reason, the american public wants to increase the percentage, that is what the polls show, and this could give the democrats both a veto and filibuster proof majority. How this is a good thing makes no sense other than Americans are willing to cut off their nose to spite their face. 

Faced with the probability of a clear and controlling democrat majority, will Americans put a democrat in the white house? As much as my pages has been filled with quasi-paranoid posts propagandizing Obama as a far left socialist (I believe he is), reality will be somewhat different. I don't believe there will be any secession movement and I do not believe that we will have a socialist nation immediately. Congress has to worry about 2010 and there are limits to what he could do, particularly without social upheaval. Still we will see changes. 

If Obama gets in we will see two supreme court justices retire. My guess is Stevens and Ginsberg would step down. This will leave two openings that would surely be filled with activist justices. We would also see a difference in the justice departments interpretation of the second amendment and how it deals with gun rights. I also wouldn't be surprised if the congress tried to pass a freedom of choice act in regards to abortion. I also think we will see some sort of nationalized healthcare. On the issues of taxes, No matter what Obama says, overall taxes will be much higher under his tenure. We will see increases in fuel taxes, estate taxes, capital gains taxes, and other areas that the congress will look to pull money out of the economy to pay for the social programs they promulgate. So while the income tax for most people will be the same or less, the effective taxation will increase considerably. 

If McCain gets in by some miracle, he won't be like Bush or Obama, but somewhere in the middle. Think old school democrat like Harry Truman or even JFK. I think we will be more moderate than Bush on some issues and he will probably try to work across the isle. Will all be good? He still has to deal with the bad economy, and while I eschew Obama's Keynesianesque approach, I am not sure McCain would be different enough to be helpful. His policies do not follow Friedman, or even Von Mises on an economic philosophy, and I think the direction will be social-populist light. Certain supreme court justices may or may not hang on, but the government will surely grow, albeit much slower and not to the extent they would with Obama. Will taxes go up? Yes, probably. As much as it would under Obama, no. But the real problem is that neither candidate is willing to cut down on the overall size of the government. Supply side doesn't work. You have to cut the liabilities. 

So where does that leave us Wednesday morning? Well, we all still have to go to work, and we still will have the economic sword of damocles hanging over our heads. The question you should ask yourself is, "where will I be in 4 years depending on whom I vote for".  John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, said that "the power to tax involves the power to destroy". The question then is, how much destruction can you live with?

PS, I will be happier once the latest electoral contest is over.  Up to now, I have not endorsed a candidate. My feeling is that it does not matter now. For what it is worth, I supported Fred Thompson in the primaries. I don't dislike McCain so much as I do not think he is the right man for the job now. At this point I am faced with a decision: Should I be pragmatic and vote for McCain, or ideologically consistent and vote for Barr (who is closer to where I am ideologically)? Looking back, there were some candidates that not only would have been better choices politically, but better people for the job, and that goes for both sides. For instance, if the race was between HRC and Obama, I would have to vote for HRC. That being said, Rudy should have been the man on the GOP side. He's the only one with the proper experience on either side to deal with what is coming.

Of course this was just a lame try at humor from Lurch, and I guess I should applaud his attempts to appear warmer than room temperature, but if he said it from the standpoint of knowing something I do not, then I think it was in poor taste, otherwise, it's just weak. Man, can McCain put a sentence together? I could have done better with the Wurzelbacher quote. It was as if he wasn't sure or was afraid. Obama had said to Wurzelbacher  was that he should be taxed to help people behind him.

The Debate II

These are just ramblings I wrote down during the debate. In short, McCain seems doddering and off pace. Obama in on his mark, but lies like a rug. Obama seems to think he can cut taxes and increase entitlement programs and cut government spending. Pure fantasy coming from  democrat with a democrat congress. He also lied about democrats wanting to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and tried to paint McCain as a caterer to Fannie and Freddie special interests. This is from the guy who took the most PAC money from those lenders. 

McCain is warming up, but he really isn't hammering at Obama to the extent he is getting it. I will say as much as Obama sounds slick and polished, McCain seems more earnest and talking to people as opposed to making a speech. 

Obama is trying to paint McCain with the presidency of Bush Re: go shopping after 9/11. True for Bush, but lame to toss on McCain. 

Obama, hmm uhhh, hmm earmarks... How do you share a burden? Somehow it's unfair that some people do better than others. People that are doing better should be punished or as Obama says, make sacrifices. Go John... Obama wants to raise taxes. No shit. He's finally on a roll. 

Obama wants more time to counter. Tough shit O'Stymie. the truth hurts. Brokaw stood his ground. Uh hmm huh CEO's..... Obama is pie in the sky. He's going to make government efficient. Really? How is that possible...

McCain wants a another blue ribbon commission? WTF?  Pure Reagan afterwards. 

Green issues? I would say man made global warming doesn't exist. Palin did, but McCain isn't. Where is the disconnect? We do agree on nuclear power. What is McCain writing down all the time? 

There is a moral imperative to have someone pay your medical bills? Obama is out of his mind. The problem with healthcare insurance is that it allow both doctors/hospitals and patients to abuse it, and overuse it, which pushes costs up. If healthcare had to be paid out of pocket, the cost of procedures would come down. doctors and hospitals can only charge what the market will bear. The subsidy of insurance inflates what the market will bear. 

Obama say healthcare is a right? FBS. I am sorry about your mom Obama, but insurance was the problem. You have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which meant property. Not healthcare insurance. 

Obama Doctrine When he's president...I guess if you it often enough, it will come true... He wants to go to Africa. Ok. More advisors. 

McCain Doctrine Tries to paint Obama as against the increase in troop levels. OK. Answer the question. Steady hand on the tiller...I expected more. 

Pakistan... Obama blames Iraq. Why couldn't we do both. Ok. Make it another VietNam. Cool. NOT. 

McCain is in his element. He comes across much more confident than Obama in foreign policy, so far as Pakistan. 

Russia - McCain is on, Realistic and knows the game. Obama - Yet another central issue. Every issue is a central issue. Hum ah hmm the russians themselves...Now we have to be clairvoyant. May be Obama can send his Truth Squads to Russia. 

The Israel question with Iran...McCain - We will not wait for the UN. Mentions Obama's preconditions, that's fair. Obama does not answer the question. Will he wait for the UN? Skirted around it. Pussy. 

McCain closes. He's on his game. They both were good at times, bad occasionally, but Obama lied outright a few times. I give this one to McCain, even though I cringed with McCain's idea about buying mortgages. 

We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor?

The senate passed a monstrosity of a bill with more pork than an Iowa hog confinement. It's disgusting and shows the lack of gravitas on the part of the senators. If we are truly in trouble here, then get a bill through that fixes the problem, not adds to it. We have a bunch of self interested buttholes, Grassley and Harkin included, that have passed a bad bill. 451 pages? We need to hold these senators feet to the fire. In the last line of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote what is in the title of this post. These fake, phony and fraudulent politicians have forgotten the meaning of those words and in their actions have demeaned them. 

It is time for a new revolution, and one that does not include Obama or McCain. They both talk a good game and both voted for pork as well (Biden too). Where is the hope? Where is the change? It's all rhetoric. I call on my fellow Americans to kick these people out of office, as they have no honor and they have lost our trust. They do not deserve our respect or our vote. Has Sarah Palin been reduced to making coffee?

Where has Sarah Palin been? Has she been reduced to making coffee? This campaign has been running out of gas at various times, only to be re-energized by some stroke of luck. It reminds of Dole's campaign, and I have said that before. I have never had this sense of resignation among the party faithful, and not in an overt way, but very subtle way, since Dole. There seems to be an attitude of playing out the hand , knowing your going to lose anyway. I hate admitting it, but it has a ring of truth for me. So where has Sarah been? Is she making coffee for the senior senator and giving him alcohol rubs? Here is a young, dynamic, smart, articulate, and beautiful woman that can hit what she aims for. Whoever is running McCain's campaign needs to be bitch slapped and kicked off the island. They are doing him and her a disservice here. She needed to be turned lose soon after her nomination and let her have at it. Someone should also tell her that if she doesn't know, say that. That's ok. No one has all the answers. No matter what happens November 4, she has a bright future. McCain is in the November of his career and it shows. I hope, at the very least, this serves as an example of how and why primogeniture does not work in the republican party. It didn't work in 1996, and it won't work now.

The New Socialist Dictatorship

There is a new socialist dictator and his name is Henry Paulson. The secretary treasurer is behind the bank bailouts, which will raise the national debt and saddle americans in order to pay for the golden parachutes and lifestyles of the plutocrats that run the financial institutions that are failing. Henry Paulson was head of Goldman Sachs and appears to be protecting his own at our expense. We now hear that he wants to extend the bailouts to foreign banks that have operations in this country. This dictator will saddle us potentially with 1 trillion in debt, and yet, he has to call Warren Buffet for advice, a robber baron that makes his bones in downturns and through other people's misfortunes, not to mention it is unethical if not illegal for Paulson to be discussing what is in essence insider information. Didn't Martha Stewart go to jail over that? To add insult to injury, Paulson is pushing congress to pass this buyout without knowing what it entails and the consequences. To understand how much power this guy wants, a quote from the bailout bill: “Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency”...“The Secretary’s authority to purchase mortgage-related assets under this Act shall be limited to $700,000,000,000 outstanding at any one time.” There is an old saying that the fish stinks from the head and this one does. These plutocrats have screwed up with the subprime debacle. Bailing them out is analogous to a co-dependent parent or spouse that keeps bailing out, covering for and making excuses for a spouse or child that has a bad drug problem and commits crimes. Right now we are at a point where tough love is called for, and it's times for the banks to eat the shit sandwich. The problem is we have a new dictator in Henry Paulson that wants to bail out his buddies. Bush is showing poor leadership in backing this ill conceived plan. What do you think? Paulson is not an elected official, and Bush is a lame duck, but their plan will affect us for decades to come. Who do you blame? We have an election coming up and Barack Obama's solution is more regulation and bureaucracies, definitely a step in the wrong direction. Right now I am waiting to hear from John McCain and the silence is deafening.
