9/11: A Day That Lives In Infamy

September 11 is more than a day that will live in infamy. It is a somber day for me. You see, I am from NY, and I lived there when 9/11 occurred. At the time I was working on Long Island, for a confections manufacturing company and my wife worked in Manhattan for a small private investing company. The CFO of the company I worked for was married to Pat Lyons. Pat was a fireman with the NYFD, working at the 252 squad in Bushwick Brooklyn. I remember Irene saying it was his day off and he didn't have to go in...Irene was eight months pregnant with their first child.

Prokopios Paul Zois worked at Marsh and McLennan. He took the Long Island Rail Road to work every day. My wife used to sit in the same group on the way to work, and Paul was part of that group. Before that day was out, these men would be taken from their loved ones, but they were going home. Irene had the baby, a boy whose name is Patrick Mate Lyons, who is almost 9 years old. The sad thing is that they never found Pat Lyons remains. From what I understand he was with his crew ascending the north tower in the stairway when it collapsed. At the time, I have to admit now, I was pissed beyond measure. I would have advocated ridding the world of Islam. While I do not feel that way now (well, sort of), I still believe it is an incorrect religion that preaches death, and it is not a religion of peace. We are still at war with these 8th century throwbacks, and we haven't brought the piece of shit that planned this genocide to justice. So much for the war on terror, but what do you expect when politicians run the military, but I am really digressing here. All I ask of those out there is to pray for the souls of those that passed this day in 2001 and pray for the peace and grace that only god can give for their families. I would also ask that if you could give to the Pat Lyons Foundation. They do a lot of good in the memory of Pat.

9/11: 10 Years Later

Normally I post this on the anniversary of 9/11. The one thing different this year is that as far as I know, OBL is dead. Still, there was little or no closure as I didn't get my pound of flesh. In some ways, I wish they captured him live, brought him here and executed the bastard publicly. We did it to McVey, why not OBL? I would have liked to have tied him to a pole in the middle of ground zero and let my fellow NYers pass justice. Such isn't the case. We won't even see photos let alone the video of the piece of shit's death. We might upset the muzzies. All I have to say is, fuck OBL, fuck Al Qaeda and fuck islam.

Lastly, if you truly believe in heroes, please donate to The Pat Lyons Foundation.

Memorial Day 2009

Today is a day of remembrance of those who lost their lives while in service to our country, particularly while in the military. As much as December 7 and September 11 have their own special place as historical dates, I think we need to remember those lost on those days as well, both civilian and military. Both were pusillanimous attacks on our country, but somehow in time have lost some of their importance in our history, particulary Pearl Harbor, but even only after 8 years, 9/11 is starting to fade. Today I honor Navy Coxswain Joe Hydrusko, who I knew personally. Joe was officially credited with rescuing approximately 300 sailors from the burning waters during the attack and the leading the efforts to cut 36 sailors from the burning hulk of the Oklahoma. Every December 7 he would fly his Stinson around the Statue of Liberty and drop roses (Many tried to get Joe the CMH, but it never happened). We miss you Joe.

For 9/11, I remember Pat Lyons, who as New York City Fireman courageously lost his life while trying to save others. Pat left a wife pregnant with their first child. Such stories abound of the people of the NYFD, NYPD and the PAPD. Also remember those on Flight 93, those on Flight 77 and those that worked in the Pentagon.

As usual, thank you for reading this blog.
