Big Brother is Coming:Census Workers Can Violate Your Privacy

It's bad enough that Obama is playing full tilt mendacity by manipulating employment figures by firing and rehiring census workers, but now we see a new trend: They can enter your apartment when you are not there.  I am quite surprised that the ACLU hasn't jumped in on this as it is a clear violation of our 4th amendment rights and I think it is winnable. I would also say castle doctrine in states that have them should prevent unlawful access by anyone without a warrant. An "American Community Survey" isn't a warrant, and if we see this non-sense perpetrated, we will see cases of people shooting census workers or assaulting them lawfully or not in defence of their property (we even see census workers breaking the law). Not even police can enter a dwelling without a warrant if no one is there. There is no reasonable cause. I am not advocating violence against census workers, but rather civil disobedience. People are obviously pissed at the intrusions in to their privacy, and regardless of your opinion or mine if they are sort a french fry of a happy meal, we all have the right to be left alone. Louis Brandeis would agree.

I will give you my own experience with the census. I filled out the forms and under ethnicity I put "American". A month later I had some 2¢ bureaucrat calling me to go over the census. I told them I already filled it out fuck Obama and to fuck off. If I amswered by mail, what is with the call? As Tom Horn said, "consider this my last word on this matter." I am sure I will get one of these un-useful idiots visiting my home soon.  If any of my readers have filled out these forms and they are being harassed by the census bureau, please let me know. I will shout to the rooftops the invasion of our privacy and solicit any privacy defending organization to prosecute this. It's un-american, it's unconstitutional and it's idiotic. Stand your ground for freedom.

Census workers can enter your apartment in your absence

Thousands of census workers, including many temporary employees, are fanning out across America to gather information on the citizenry.  This is a process that takes place not only every decade in order to complete the constitutionally-mandated census; but also as part of the continuing “American Community Survey” conducted by the Census Bureau on a regular basis year in and year out.

What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.”  If the landlord of such apartment or other  leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00.

That’s right — not only can citizens be fined if they fail to answer the increasingly intrusive questions asked of them by the federal government under the guise of simply counting the number of people in the country; but a landlord must give them access to your apartment whether you’re there or not, in order to gather whatever “statistics” the law permits.

In fact, some census workers apparently are going even further and demanding — and receiving — private cell phone numbers from landlords in order to call tenants and obtain information from them.  Isn’t it great to live in a “free” country?
