Ringing the bell at the top: Paging Chris Christie

As published in The Daily Caller and a courtesy to my friend, Tim Daniels.

Consider Bell.  A diverse, poor offshoot of Los Angeles, Bell’s population in 2000 stood at 37,000 and its median per year household income clocked in at $29,000.  But according to a blitz of media reports, city manager Robert Rizzo’s yearly salary clocks in close to $800,000.
Rizzo thinks he’s worth every penny recently claiming:
“If that’s a number people choke on, maybe I’m in the wrong business. I could go into private business and make that money. This council has compensated me for the job I’ve done.”
No kidding. But that’s not where the buck stops.
Investor’s Business Daily has the city manager’s yearly retirement pension at a cool $600,000, starting at age 50. Such sweetheart scenarios were written by lawmakers during the Davis administration, exemplifying the unison of politicians, powerful unions, and the corruptocrat state attorneys at home in Sacramento.
In addition to Rizzo’s sub $800,000 salary, Bell police chief netted over $456,000 and assistant city manager Angela Spaccia earned $376,000.  The Los Angeles Times reported today that all three of these high-income earners got the boot today. We’ll see if they “go into private business and make that money” as the Bell city manager claimed.
The local issue of overpaid, zealous administrators in Bell, California, demonstrates a far more troubling macro picture for both the state and the nation a whole. California’s pension system alone now comes with a price tag that dwarfs the estimates of 10 years ago. This is due mostly to the 1999 California enacted pension ‘reform’ based on ludicrous investment gambles that assumed (among many other things) that the Dow Jones Industrial average would be trading at 25,000 by 2009.  And with the ongoing recession and business/entrepreneur exodus – it will only get worse.
California may break records in fiscal insanity and union largess but the issue is not unique to this state alone. A story today out of Ann Arbor, Michigan highlights city officials who saw it fit to use taxpayer dollars to purchase an $800,000 piece of art despite the city’s current fiscal distress.  The city also hired an art-coordinator and while doing so fired the city administrator that oversees trash collection efforts.
Talk about taking out the trash.
Going forward, the nation may not only face public outrage but civic unrest, when the taxpayers who foot the bill for perpetual government sector magnanimity come to full grips with the situation we are facing.
Perhaps we need hundreds of clones of a certain large, Italian, former prosecutor at every level of state and federal government to clean up this mess.
Paging Chris Christie.

Time For A Break

It's time for The Right Guy to take a break. Like Nickie Goomba, I need a break from this. Too much time in for too little return and it's the same shit thrown against the same wall as everyone else. For what? At best a $10 check from adsense? Not a good return for capitalist and I don't even make that.

Anyway, see you in month or so or whenever I feel like it.

Thanks again for reading this blog and hopefully, if I come back, I will have renewed energy.

Signs Of Sanity

There are Signs that Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson is coming to his senses. He sold his house in NY for £10 million quid and has his house in Malibu on the market for  another £10 million quid. Word is that Mel is leaving the US and moving back to Australia with his ex-wife Robyn Moore and his kids.
Mel Gibson is poised to quit the US after selling his mansion near New York.
The disgraced Lethal Weapon star, who faces allegations of violence from his Russian former girlfriend, sold the mock Tudor property, known as Old Mill Farm, for £16 million – £10 million less than the asking price...Gibson has also put his Malibu home, Lavender Hill Farm, on the market for £10 million, according to a property newsletter.
He has told friends that he will move back to Australia - where he grew up after moving from America when he was 12 - with his ex-wife Robyn, who still supports him.
Gibson, 54, is ready to contest the allegations of Oksana Grigorieva, 40, who claims he punched her and hurt their baby, Lucia, in a drunken rage in January.
A source close to the family said: ‘Oksana’s allegations have united Mel and Robyn and this move is her idea.

I have to say it's probably the right thing to do. Hollywood is such a twisted place and he needs space to collect himself. He was married to Robyn for 28 years before he ran off with the russian putana, and may be there will be a reconciliation. Mel being a catholic, this would make sense. I can't blame him.

Lots of guys go through mid-life crisis's. Some get the expensive sports car, some fool around, and some just get depressed and even decide it's checkout time. Getting old sucks, but I guess it's better than the alternative.

I hope Mel gets help, stays clean, and keeps away from the idiots and idiocy of the world. It's the best he can do. Swing away Mel, Swing away...

Thank you for reading this blog.

Horror of Horrors: Stalin Statue at D-Day Memorial Pt II

This article appeared on my blog a month ago. Since then, it has become an issue again. We now have Fox News reporting on this as well as The Libertarian Republican Blog. A blurb from the article:

The installation of a memorial bust of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin in Bedford, Va., next to Western Allied leaders in World War II has ignited a firestorm of controversy and threatened to tear apart the small town 200 miles south of the nation's capital.
Opponents of the bronze sculpture say it has no right to be placed in the National D-Day Memorial next to the busts of Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill because Stalin's murderous rule led to the deaths of at least 20 million people, surpassing even the number of murders under Hitler's bloody reign.
The Bedford board of supervisors voted unanimously late last month to ask the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to lose the bust. A group called the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has an electronic petition calling on the memorial overseers to remove the bust. Several newspaper editorials have criticized the bust.

As usual, I was ahead of the curve and so were we on Libertarian Politics Live.

From The Washington Times:

Robin Reed, slated to become the next president of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation on Monday, is standing by his predecessor's decision to install a bust of dictator Josef Stalin at the memorial in Bedford, Va.

I must live in some alternate universe or something. That is what I thought when we had a guest on Libertarian Politics Live tonight. The guest was a late booking, but we had Marcus Kilga of the Global Museum On Communism on the second segment. A must listen.

Marcus said that the donor that gave the money to commission the statue was anonymous. Efforts are being made to find out who it was. The pusillanimity of Robin Reed is reprehensible. I cannot for the life of me figure out how this makes sense. Russia had nothing to do with D-Day. No Russians were there. Stalin made Hitler look like a boy scout. 30 million killed is a conservative estimate, and these aren't war losses, not to mention, The American Tragedy In Stalin's Russia. They all died while FDR played his fiddle, so to speak. As Cassius Clay would say, Stalin was a Baaaad Man.

Dr. Lee Edwards of the Global Museum on Communism had this to say:

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, statues of Joseph Stalin have been torn down all over Europe and even in the former Soviet Union itself. The world is closer than ever before to a consensus on the evils of communism and Stalin's primary role in the worst crimes of the last century. And yet a statue of Stalin is included in the National D-Day Memorial, to be dedicated in Bedford, Virginia, this Sunday, June 6.
Near the statue of Stalin, a plaque catalogues Stalin's crimes against millions of people both in Russia and throughout Europe. But no mere plaque can justify the inclusion of the statue which dishonors the heroic individuals who sacrificed so much on D-Day and in the Cold War.
A bust of Joseph Stalin has no place in a memorial whose purpose is to salute the brave soldiers who made D-Day a vital victory in the crusade for freedom.

The fact that this happened under the Obama Regime isn't a coincidence my friends.  Even W would have had contempt for this. It's outrageous and a legitimization of Stalin. Juxtapose this with the removal of Churchill's bust from the White House, replaced with a magazine cover of Obama walking on water, You have to wonder. The world has truly turned upside down.

The Fat Police Are Coming

Starting in 2014, every american must have an obesity rating in their Obama mandated electronic health records.

New federal regulations issued this week stipulate that the electronic health records--that all Americans are supposed to have by 2014 under the terms of the stimulus law that President Barack Obama signed last year--must record not only the traditional measures of height and weight, but also the Body Mass Index: a measure of obesity.

Think about the consequences of this. With everyone's BMI index on file, ask the question, how will that be used? Can you say rationed healthcare?

"Oh, your BMI is 25%. You need a coronary bypass? Fuck you and die. Oh, your BMI is 29% and you just got type one diabetes? Fuck you and your insulin you'll never get".  We already have companies that are firing people that continue to smoke (Wellmark BCBS), so what if fat is next. What if a prospective employer had access to these records and categorized you. Will fat become a protected class like being gay or disabled? I doubt it.

Another possible side effect of this is taxation. If you are overweight, you will be taxed more than someone of normal BMI. A real fat tax, not just on food, but the individual. Someone has to pay right? I mean Who's going to pay for Obamacare?

It's just another step down the slippery slope of government control and regulation of people's lives. Uncle Obama knows better than you do and you will pay the price if you don't do as he says.

The other thing is, who says what is obese and what isn't? According to government charts, Arnold Schwarzenegger would have been considered obese during his peak as Mr. Olympia. Even with myself, at 6'5, the charts say I should weigh under 210 lbs not to be considered overweight. I could weight 240-250 and still run 1 minute laps. Not bad for an obese guy? It all depends on what the composition of weight is, which is something the government charts never take in to consideration (on the other hand, Michelle Obama would definitely be consider obese).

As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. We do have a problem with obesity in this country and it needs to be dealt with. Putting it in someone's permanent record that the government controls is not the way to go. The only way to fix it is through personal responsibility. "So a man thinketh in his heart, so is he".  The government cannot fix that, only the individual can.

One more step towards socialism. Aren't you happy you elected Obama? Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm. Pass the  fried chicken and cherry coke.

Passion of the Mel: Payback

That didn't take too long, did it? Mel Gibson is fighting back, fighting for his kids, his livelihood and his reputation. He has gone so far as to enlist his ex-wife in sending a sworn affidavit that he never abused her or their children in 28 years of marriage.

That much must be true. While Mel is a drinker, womanizer, and nutty as a bag of squirrels, he doesn't have the history as an abuser. Not of people.

Still, he's lost a lot already: His agent, the agency that represented him, and I am sure plenty of the hollywood elites won't return his calls. Some might say he is done.

I will tell you what though: He surely has enough money to do as he pleases. He could finance his own films if he choses, and I am sure there is talent out there that would still work with him. Look at Mickey Rourke. He came back and won an oscar, so it's possible.

All that being said, Mel has a long and tough road to hoe. The tone, tenor and language on those recording was over the top and he crossed the line. Whatever his pain is, he needs to fix it and fix it permanently. Lawyers may make a lot of this go away, but if he's still the same, I am sure we'll get Mad Mel 3.

As I have said before, I was a Gibson fan. Who wouldn't love the semi-closeted right wing action hero from Peekskill NY? The Right Guy wishes him well and hopes he gets the help he needs. In time, everything goes away.

Thank you for reading this blog.

PS, I wonder how the conversation between Robyn and him went like?

This Took 86 Days?

In what must be a riches of embarrassment, BP finally fixed the leak after 86 days. That's almost 3 months for those of you from the east side.

I have to wonder what took so long. So say it was because the well was a mile under water, some say it was because no one at BP had the expertise to deal with this or that BP didn't even have a plan. Some will blame the government and Obama, some will just it's about time.

Considering we put a man on the moon, we've recovered artifacts from the Titanic over 2 miles down, we've sent satellites to Mars where one has been rolling across the surface for the last 5 to 6 years, there has to be a good reason why it took so long to fix this (where's Harry Stamper when you need him).

If I had to guess, it's incompetence. Incompetence on the part of BP, of the government, and just about everyone involved on the delivery side. The sad thing is that the people on the gulf coast are going to take this one in the ass. Not Obama, not the execs at BP, not any government employees. Even Bobby Jindal was a disappointment to some extent. He should have sent out the NG to ensure that his people could proceed with cleanup and abatement measure when the Mountebank's crew tried to stop them. It would have been first class political theatre and it would have shown balls, like in Arizona with SB1070. Brewer showed sand and it worked in her favor. Jindal acquiesced. He lost an opportunity.

What this did illustrate is that we cannot count on the feds for very much. In spite of Obama's agenda of socialism as the form of government for the US, it really doesn't work, especially with an inept leader. We've had failure after failure by dear leader and yet they push on, white knuckled, with even more fortitude. Nothing fails like repeated failure.

So now we wait for the next act of drama to arise in this news cycle called the gulf spill and what will be next?

Another opportunity for Obama to show how bad he really is.

Happy Bastille Day

While the French celebrate Bastille Day, the question arises, is our Bastille Day coming? While Obama would rather we eat cake, I don't see it happening. The Frech had balls at one time. What happened? C'est la vie.

Tim Scott Condemns NAACP

From our flagship blog Libertarian Republican:

Tim Scott, Republican candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s First Congressional District, issued the following statement today:

“I understand that the NAACP, at its annual conference in Kansas City, will vote today on a resolution condemning the Tea Party movement as “racist”. I believe that the NAACP is making a grave mistake in stereotyping a diverse group of Americans who care deeply about their country and who contribute their time, energy and resources to make a difference.”

“As I campaign in South Carolina, I participate in numerous events sponsored by the Tea Party, 9/12, Patriot, and other like-minded groups, and I have had the opportunity to get to know many of the men and women who make up these energetic grassroots organizations. Americans need to know that the Tea Party is a color-blind movement that has principled differences with many of the leaders in Washington, both Democrats and Republicans. Their aim is to support the strongest candidates – regardless of color or background – who will fight to return our country to its Constitutional roots of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets.”

Note - Tim Scott is virtually Congressman-elect for South Carolina's 1st District. (He faces only a paper candidate on the ballot for the Fall in a heavily Republican District.)

Michelle Pulls The Race Card

In a keynote speech before the NAACP (NAALCP for those familiar with Rush Limbaugh), Mobama condemned racist elements within the Tea Party movement. Really? This is a woman from a party that  championed Robert Byrd, who was a klansman and dismissed it as a election ploy. This same klansman was against the civil rights act of 1964. How convenient.

The truth is, is that The Tea Party is making such huge inroads with the voting public and is a vehicle for the repudiation of her incompetent and feckless husband, the Mountebank in Chief, Barack Hussein Obama, hmmm, hmmm hmmm.

The Tea Party, which espouses the philosophy of our founders, which is small government, low taxes, protection of natural rights, elimination of entitlements, and strong national defense. These are everyday people of all colors, races, and national origins as well as ethnic identities and it transcends identity politics as espoused by organizations such as the NAACP and the democrat party.

Right now Obama is sinking in the polls faster the W on a 24/7/365 Katrina-like groundhog day movie. He's proven feckless in fixing any problems or even being involved in such a way to give the impression he is trying to anything other than play another round of golf or eat a cheeseburger with a foreign dignitary.

This is truly a desperate attempt by a many that will hide behind his wife's big behind (would you prefer skirt?), instead of confronting the issues and using reason instead of a marxism template that has been proven not to work, time and time again.

Right now this administration is playing out like a bad episode of Boondocks except there's no comic relief from Uncle Ruckus. Obama is doing his best to ruin this country, like a driver white knuckled on the steering wheel of a bus going over a cliff. It's not that he doesn't have a clue, it that he refuses to admit he is wrong, that his philosophy is wrong and that the country knows this. He truly is not one of our own. We might as well have Lars Rasmussen or Frederik Reinfeldt in the White House.

So, Lady Back can complain all she wants, but if she wants to confront racism, look in the mirror. If she wants this country to do better, she she ask her husband to resign.

State Run Media Confirmed: Mort Zuckerman works for Obama

Mort Zuckerman Admits He Wrote One Of Obama's Speeches from RCP Video on Vimeo.

Unbelievable. There you have it. Rush Limbaugh is vindicated for taking abuse for calling the MSM the State Run Media. I bet Mort gives Obama foot messages too and gets his paper in the morning too. How utterly repugnant, obsequious and corrupt.

The line between Journalism and Propaganda (spoken like Frank from Queens) has been obliterated. Goebbels would be proud. This is big, really Big.

Follow The Money: Exxon-Mobil Wants to buy BP

From the department of conspiracies, the question arises, is the move by Exxon-Mobil to buy BP just a matter of fate of the circumstances or is there more to it?

Better put, has Obama's inaction been a favor for Exxon-Mobil, just incompetence, or as a favor to enviro-terrorists? May be all of the above? Remember the fall of TARP and the government's picking of winners and losers. Could this be the same? Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Of course, Occam's razor would say that it's just plain incompetence. If that is true, then we have the most incompetent president extant. He's moved beyond Jimmy Carter or Andrew Johnson (or Millard Fillmore or Franklin Pierce) and establishes himself as the preeminent failure for that office.

More to come...
