It is my belief that as human individuals, we are born into this world with natural rights that are inviolate; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Property or Happiness which has been expressed eloquently by Thomas Jefferson. Anything less puts us in the status of slaves, indentured servants and farm animals. My impetus for this blog is to serve as the clarion call to others, like minded or not, that our freedom is at stake in a world of increasing collectivism.
ME too. While it does represent the flavor, these are younger people too, so the places they talk about are different than mine to some degree. That being said, it makes me think of home.
Like I said, these are young kids...I hate rap and hip hop too. I just thought it was funny. As far as bagels go, NY has the best, and since I've been living in Iowa, only one place has passable bagels. Mid-westerners aren't known for having good food, at least good ethnic food. If there are three things I mess, one is the availability of good ethnic food. The ocean is one, family is the other.
Where in Oregon are you from? My grandfather was from LaGrande.
Being an Oregonian, where salmon, Mo's clam chowder (New England style only because Manhattan stye, like rap, sucks) and dungeonous crab are everywhere, I do note that most of the restaurants in the midwest can't cook seafood worth jack squat.
But Polish food? They serve killer piroghis, kaobasa and of course punchkis (paczis?) just about everywhere you go in the Chicagoland area.
I was born in Oregon City (oldest incorporated city west of the Mississippi, lots of folks think SF, but there are wrong), but went to jr hi, high school and college in Eugene, OR (home of the Mighty Fighting Ducks). I know some folks from LaGrande as well.
Polish food is quite hardy and stuff I can't indulge too often. I live 377 miles west of Chicago and it's a little more than a day trip for a visit. That being said, even though I grew up on LI, I never liked clam chowder of any type, I like seafood though, and you are right, it's hard to get good stuff out here.
As far as Oregon goes, my mom's family's surname is See. There's a bunch still living there and even more buried there. One of these days I will visit.
Probably for the best. If you ever tasted them when they're right, and then knew you couldn't ever get them again, it would be a lousy way to go through life.

I'm not from Nassau, but the bagels are pretty darn good here in Chicago (Skokie knows bagels).
Then again, I'm not from Chicago, either. I'm an Oregon boy, where they know how to smoke salmon.

It's a Long Island thing Will. I don't relate to the music at all and these kids are a long younger, but I get it having lived there most of my life.
