Try to not get killed on it.

It's my 5th bike in 23 years. Thing has all the nice shit, heated seats and grips, electronically adjustable windscreen, cruise control, electronically adjustable suspension, a computer that calculates mileage, average speed, trips, etc. It's a lot different than the cruiser bikes I have had. Yes I wear a helmet.

You should've gotten the optional gas grill on the back so your passenger could could cook hot dogs going down the highway.

Triumphs, BSA's and Nortons catch my eye, much more so than BMWs', they have been pretty darn ugly for most of my life, and I'm old.

The R1200 isn't ugly, certainly not at much as the older Beemers and it's a matter of taste. BSAs and Triumphs were cool bikes, but they weren't reliable. If they stopped leaking oil it meant they were out. The Triumphs are excellent bikes though, but there wasn't one that made me say yes. I've always wanted a BMW as technologically, the germans have it down pat and the bikes have some character, unlike a Honda which is an appliance. Great bike the Gold Wing, but interesting as vanilla ice cream. HD are over priced 1939 designs that were modernized for the 21st century. Great paint and finish, but I am not paying 5K more for an inferior machine and it's inferior in almost every way. You have to turn off the left side of your brain to buy one. So that left the Beemer...Well, not really. I did test ride and look at several bikes. I liked the Kawasaki Concours 1400, but it has too sporty of ergonomics and I would have had to change some things to make it right for me.
